Robotic Surgery - Urology

Project Goals

Create a next generation ultrasound-guided surgical system for the treatment of urological conditions and to improve patient outcomes balanced between symptom relief and side effects. Subsystem integration to allow for direct control over the system configuration for efficient use in the surgical suite.

Sunrise Labs Solution

  • Software development for the host computer including:
    • user interface, system imaging integration, connectivity, and security
    • control of a distributed CANopen network of connected embedded microprocessors
  • Firmware for microprocessors including various system pump and motor controls
  • 3-phase brushless motor drives using both off-the-shelf and custom controls
  • Developed all System electronics including PCB assemblies and cables
  • Integrated the electronics and software with the client developed mechanics
  • Maintained System Bill of Materials
