2020 Retrospective

A 2020 Retrospective

If there was one word to describe Sunrise Labs’ experience in 2020, it would be perseverance

If there was one word to describe Sunrise Labs’ experience in 2020, it would be perseverance. Sunrise stayed the course and navigated our way to yet, another successful year, despite many of our team members facing personal challenges due to the pandemic. We continued to grow our core team, invest in tools to increase efficiency, and expand our range of services to support product development for medical devices and life science OEMs.

As COVID-19 unfolded, we did not miss a beat while almost ninety percent of our team switched to remote work environments. Thanks, in part, to the many tools Sunrise has invested in through the years for communication and collaboration we’ve been able to maintain our mission of turning clients’ novel ideas into commercially viable products,  leveraging our ISO-13485:2016 certified process and Agile Methodology.  We are proud to have delivered several complex instruments to clients during this time and kicked off numerous new programs that are addressing the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.

We’ve continued to hire new staff members to enhance our service offerings. The expansion of our Mechanical Engineering Team increases our early-stage prototyping, fluid handling, and mechatronics. Additional staff in our User-Centered Design Team help clients analyze use-related risk and usability testing throughout the device development process. The Software Team also expanded, building on our expertise in embedded software, and increasing the capabilities to support mobile app and back-end development.  Additionally, our Project Management Team continues to grow; broadening our ability to navigate and manage the technical, schedule, and budgetary constraints to meet our clients’ overall business needs.

Our building expansion projects continued as planned despite many challenges. We added 5,000 s.f. open concept lab space to our existing lab areas, plus a new 2,500 s.f. patio for social distancing and future functions. Some of our ‘green’ initiatives include electric car charging stations, and a new roof to accept solar panels, which will be installed in early 2021!

At the heart of Sunrise are our people and culture. An HR manager was hired to assist with growing employee needs, and to maintain our internship and recruiting programs. We had twelve interns working remotely this summer! We found ways for employees to engage during the pandemic through virtual Happy Hours, Team Gatherings, and outdoor activities. We are so proud to have received second place for Business NH Magazine’s Best Companies to Work For in NH, and placed in the top three for StayWorkPlay’s ‘Coolest Companies For Young Professionals’ this year!

From everyone at Sunrise Labs, we’d like to say thank you for your continued faith in us. Wishing you Hope, Health, and Prosperity in 2021!
