Doug Currie

Sunrise Fellow

Doug is one of our most senior engineers and brings over 25 years of product development experience to your design challenges. At Sunrise Labs, Doug architects and implements real-time systems and software, and expertly leads client projects. With dozens of medical devices under his belt, Doug knows what the FDA wants to see from the design team; he wrote the quality system for one of our clients and much of ours as well.

As a founder and later president of Flavors Technology, Doug developed massively parallel real-time computers and programming tools for automation and simulation. At Sunrise Labs Doug built on his strong background in product development in hard real-time and artificial intelligence to provide system level leadership for development of complex medical devices involving tight control and analytics, with innovative software, electronics, electro-mechanical, electro-optical, and (micro-)fluidic subsystems.

Doug thrives on solving systems design challenges; they are unique puzzles for which he takes pride in finding elegant solutions. Doug shares his enthusiasm for technology with our youth. He is the NH State Instant Challenge Master for Destination Imagination, an extraordinary non-profit organization that provides educational programs for students to learn and experience creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.

Doug feels he’s in the right livelihood and the right company: “Sunrise Labs is the most respectful and ethical company I have encountered in this industry.” He should know; he helps make it that way.

Doug has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.
