John E. Mason - Principal Engineer

John has over 20 years of experience architecting systems and developing products. At Sunrise, he is a principal engineer and a project manager.  John excels in developing software for embedded systems; especially in designing secure systems and in connecting devices to host computers, the internet and other networks.

John's project experience with Sunrise includes work on wireless data loggers, electric grid test equipment, electronic voting equipment, and high-precision automated instruments for machine tools. He is also proficient in developing code for hand-held wireless devices using WinCE and Linux operating systems. John is an expert at keeping issues in perspective and making common sense design tradeoffs.

John understands how his work at Sunrise can have a great impact on the world we live in. “I’m especially proud of our work with the electronic voting machine. It always worked and stayed out of the headlines. It has helped to streamline an important aspect of our democracy.”

John holds a BSEE from the University of New Hampshire.
